Shady Pines Festival Community Loved The Oracle of Mouses

We are so thankful for the opportunity to have shared The Oracle of Mouses with the Shady Pines Festival community July 16 - 19th. Our experience in sharing The Oracle this time was in many ways such a pleasant surprise.

We knew that this event would be different than our first festival SOAK. At SOAK we had predominantly adults engaging with us in Makin' Mouses sessions, but Shady Pines was a family friendly event with with about 100 youths in attendence. So this time the service provided by our art was similar and yet different. As before, it was still a refuge from the sun on hot days, a place where people can sit and relax, talk amongst their friends, and imagine possibilities through play with clay. But at Shady Pines, it was also a place parents could visibly relax as their children found focus, and those kids could create freely to their hearts content.

Bobbi and I were very proud of these serviceful moments that our art fostered. We were so honored that the Oracle was such a popular spot for so many. Arguably it was the most heavily visited location apart from the tavern and the stages. And that was true despite not selling any product or giving anything away. All we did was simply provide an opportunity to become part of our experience, an ever growing mouse media movement.

The Mouses are The Masses. The Mouses are We.

The Oracle

The Oracle, the center of Soiree's power and the portal from which she is able to be present in our realm. As it turns and displays her network programming, she captivates The Mouses.

In a technical sense, the Oracle projectable prism made of clear acrylic and projectable mesh. It's three sides are illuminated by 3 UST projectors, all raised on a slowly turning stage. The media is displayed in a mirroring technique we call EdgeCentric projection. The result is a deeply hypnotic and dream-like visual that pulls your mind into another dimension.

The Muse

Soiree, is an ambitious mouse media executive from the Muse Dimension. She reaches into our dimension through her portal, The Oracle, to send forth her siren's call, her late night broadcasts that lure her audience of The Mouses.

She weilds a special intuitive broadcast technology, derived of the same power that enables Cellographic to broadcast mesmerizing dreamscapes, it powers her delivery of the Love Muse Oracle TV network.

As she dances within the video prism shining in its luminous and mezmerizing rays. She is agrandized for all those who see, made more glorious by her ever growing audience. A beacon luring all to the show.

We Loved Your Participation at The Oracle of Mouses

A tale of one media executives rise to power in the Muse Dimension...

The Oracle of Mouses is a narrative based conceptual art installation built upon the Pied Piper Tale. In our story, The Pied Piper is Soiree, a mouse media executive from the Muse Dimension who has erected The Oracle, a portal from which she is able to broadcast nightly shows of her mouse media network, Love Muse Oracle TV. The Mouses are mesmerized by the nostalgic media she repurposes and alters to enthrall them. And that is problematic because Soiree is in cahoots with The Owl, the Mouses oppressor. And wouldn't that be horrible, a media that was aligned with our oppressors instead of the Mouses they serve?

This narrative is played out each and every day and night of participating festivals. During the day we host Makin' Mouses, a community led advancement of our project. People come to our pavilion and they have the opportunity to create their very own totally unique mouse to contribute. And in doing so, collectively we build our mouse audience and advance Soiree's ascendance to mouse media dominance through her nightly broadcasts of Love Muse Oracle TV.
